Rutgers WBB Assistant Coach Donates ‘Locks’
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers
women's basketball assistant coach Marianne Stanley gave something back
during this busy holiday season, her hair.
Four years ago, the second-year Scarlet Knights assistant
coach watched a segment on Locks of Love, the nonprofit organization
which hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children with cancer, on
the Oprah Winfrey Show. Stanley decided to start the growth process.
On Tuesday at Voi Salon in East Brunswick, stylist April
Slover chopped off 11 inches of Stanley's hair – for a good cause. The
salon offers no charge for the cut and takes care of mailing the hair
to the organization. For her generosity, Stanley will receive a certificate
of thanks while a child in need will benefit in the future.
